♬Call it what you want.
On July 5th, I had the amazing privilege of seeing one of my favorite bands—Foster the People!! Along for the tour, were the 2 opening acts—Kimbra, and Mayer Hawthorne! What an awesome night…I got to share it with two of my favorite people, we were standing all of 3 feet from the stage, and I have a HUGE, probably unhealthy crush on Mark Foster. Indeed, what a night!

Other than the blue dressers, I wanted to add something really special to Sorin’s room that his mommy would love. Enter this adorable giant photo strip! Find the super-easy tutorial here!

Little Boy Blue.
About a month ago, I found these little dressers at an estate sale. I had been wanting to get my little nephew a dresser for awhile, so I snatched these up.
{Non-spectacular dressers}
As you can see, they are really boring! Naturally, I decided to give them a whole new look. I started off by picking up some bright blue spray paint at Home Depot. I had never used spray paint before so I...

Cranberry Chairs.
A few weeks ago, I was stewing over ideas for a mother’s day gift. My mom had a set of 4 chairs and a table for the back patio that were looking extremely weathered.
{Excuse Ike. He insisted on being in the picture}
{This cranberry red was perfect}
After tons of sanding, and a couple coats of paint, the chairs look amazing! Happy Mother’s Day, mamma!

Someone's trash...
I took this “lovely” piece of furniture off of a friend of my mom’s. She was willing to give it to me for free, provided that I come take it off her hands. When I saw it, I instantly loved it’s vintage shape, so I took it home, and started working on it…
I sanded down the entire dresser by hand (bad idea), and used crackle to get an “aged” look.
If...

breakfast of champions.
Hello world! After many months of virtual silence, I’ve decided to end my looooong hiatus by telling you about my favorite place to have breakfast—Sill’s Cafe.
Look, and be amazed!…..
At Sill’s you can indulge in plate-sized scones covered in hot honey butter (personal favorite). And the best thing is, they’re a “breakfast served all day” kind...

little lava cakes.
A week ago it was my hubby’s birthday. I wanted to give him a special treat, so I decided to make one of his favorites—chocolate lava cake! Lava cake seems a little complicated, but this recipe is so simple even the most culinarily challenged person could make them!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup powdered sugar
4 oz semi-sweet baking chocolate
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs

cinnamon fix.
A few days ago I was seriously craving cinnamon, preferably something along the lines of a churro. That’s when I got the no brainer idea of getting some of those refrigerated breadsticks and coating them with some cinnamon sugar. Let me tell you, they are amazing dipped in your morning coffee!
Ingredients:
1 can of refrigerated breadsticks
1-2 tbsp butter, melted
1/2 cup granulated...

beef ramen sans the msg.
I’m convinced everyone likes to sit down to a nice big (super salty) bowl of ramen every once and awhile. The other day, my best friend and I were about to make a pot of the brackish stuff when suddenly I started to feel pretty guilty about all the msg I was about to shove in my mouth. That’s when I tossed the little mystery seasoning packets away and started making my own (way...

super easy alfredo.
I should mention that there is bacon in this recipe. I’m one of those people that will eat pretty much anything if there’s bacon in it (^_^)

6 pieces of bacon (cut into small pieces)
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
4 cloves garlic (minced)
2 cups milk
1 cup chicken broth

I tired this recipe from KSL’s Studio 5 a couple of weeks ago. I would’ve taken a picture, but once my family and I started eating, we just couldn’t stop! Everyone will love this recipe. Plus, it’s so easy!

bistek or beefsteak??
This dish frequented the menu when I was a kid. To this day I’m not completely sure if it’s really called bistek or beefsteak. Both names were always floating around my house. Whatever it’s called it’s awesome!
Ingredients
2 lb chuck roast (thinly sliced)
3/4 cup Yoshida sauce
1 small onion (chopped)
Salt, pepper, lemon pepper & red pepper flakes

cheesy goodness
For our annual New Year’s Eve party on Friday I put my own spin on Rachael Ray’s chorizo mushroom queso dip recipe sans the mushrooms. Sorry I didn’t take a picture of it. I was too busy eating it…
Ingredients
1 cup sour cream
1/2 lb Spanish chorizo
1 1/2 cup cheddar jack cheese (cubed or shredded)
1 small can of green chiles
1/4 cup salsa

There’s something about Italian food that warms you up inside and out. A couple days ago, hubby and I got a craving for that toasty Italian food feeling. I got the inspiration for this dish from Rachael Ray’s Chicken Ragù recipe. I switched out the chicken for...

a use for leftover stuffing.
What you see here is stuffing seasoned cutlets with pear sauce and sweet potato oven fries! I saw it on the Rachael Ray Show yesterday and thought that it would be great for dinner. The chicken cutlets are coated in ground up stuffing—a good way to use up any uncooked stuffing you have from Thanksgiving. The sweet potatoes are amazing… definitely going to make them more often :)

Yesterday I got to make Rachael Ray’s parmigiano reggiano crusted chicken piccata and boy was it good! Unfortunately I didn’t have enough parmigiano to coat the chicken with, so I just improvised by combining parmigiano reggiano, pecorino romano, and panko bread crumbs. Here’s how I did it…

5 pieces of boneless, skinless chicken breast
